Documentaries
Gang members are often dehumanized in the media and misrepresented in film, but some documentaries bring light on the subject by analyzing gang structure and the gang members themselves. Mainstream documentaries exploit gang violence by focusing on entertainment rather than enlightenment. They exaggerate gang violence and fuel the cycle of oppression that divides our class system. Not all documentaries are misleading, informative documentaries show gangs from different perspectives and discuss possible solutions to the increase of gang violence.
